Armacha
The village Armacha is located south of Kastelli, at a distance of 47 kilometers from the city of Heraklion, on green hill outskirts. The name probably comes from someone’s name, as somebody who had the name “Michael Armacha” is mentioned in a document of the Duke’s files of Crete in 1369.
Armacha is a small settlement where the traditional architecture has significantly disappeared in favor of modern buildings. However, if you stroll in the village you will certainly find old stone buildings that still stand in spite of the modern trend.
