Avli
At an altitude of 307 meters and 42 kilometers from the city of Heraklion lies the settlement of Avli. Avli is still famous for its watermills and it is one of the few villages in the wider region that has increased its population. The area presents archaeological interest, as at the location of a spring called “Mitzihili” a scarab was found with hieroglyphics of the 7th century BC, as well as remains of buildings and shells of the Late Minoan period.
