Crete in Neolithic times
The first Cretans were tribes that probably arrived here from Asia Minor or North Africa and grew very slowly over the next 3000 years. They started to cultivate the land with primitive means and learned to keep animals. The primitive pottery gradually evolved with the use of fire and became more elaborate. The tradition of pottery is still alive today in Thrapsano. Neolithic sites and findings have been located at several parts of the Municipality of Minoa Pediados.
