Zofori is a village of about 300 inhabitants and is located 30 kilometers from the city of Heraklion. The village has a significant production of vineyard and olive products and cereals too. An old custom lies here, according to which the vineyards are sprinkled with holy water on February 1^st, St. Tryphon’s nameday.

In the early 17th century, during the last phase of the Venetian period, the settlement was a protectorate of the Cornaros family, and possibly it belonged to the famous poet, Vintzentzos Cornaros.

The village today presents intense cultural activity in order not only to maintain tradition but also to offer entertainment. So during summer you can attend a number of musical and cultural events, several of which revive customs of the past.
