Garipa
Garipa is a fairly large village near the historic Fort “Belvedere”. It is about 45 km from Heraklion, while the old settlement (Upper Village) is located on top of a small hill of the area.
The economy of the village, especially thriving today, is mainly based on olive growing and secondarily on the production of vegetables and other livestock products. If you make a small tour in Garipa today, you will see beautiful houses with courtyards full of flowers, among which a few old stone houses are maintained, remnants of the traditional Cretan architecture.
