Houmeri is located 3 km northwest of Arkalohori and about 30 km southeast of Heraklion. It is a small village that maintains its traditional character and it is situated in a fertile plain, where there is a fountain supplied with water by a spring.

In the picturesque village of Houmeri, it is worth visiting the two-aisled church dedicated to the Presentation of the Virgin Mary, inside of which there are interesting wall paintings of the 15th century in fragmentary condition.
