Karavado
The settlement Kassanoi is located 44 kilometers from Heraklion, near the village Avli and its name is probably of Italian origin. It is a village with agricultural production and it is famous for the production of onions.
Today in the wider area of the village there are a lot of churches of the Late Byzantine Period with remarkable wall paintings. The most important is the church of Christ the Saviour, located in the center of Kassanoi, beside an old fountain, as well as the church of Saint Kyriaki and the church of Virgin Mary on the outskirts of the village.
