Lagouta
Near the village Vakiotes lies Lagouta, just 48 kilometers from Heraklion. It is a small settlement for which there has been a written report since 1271, as Laouta, in a document of Pietro Scardon, the notary of Candia.
Lagouta is best known for its grove, the largest one in the Municipality of MinoaPediados. You find it in the entrance of the village occupying an area of about 80 acres. Inside the village, you can visit the small folklore museum, housed in a beautiful traditional building.
