Vakiotes
The small settlement Vakiotes is located at an altitude of 220 meters and 46 kilometers from Heraklion, following the way Arkalohori – Mousouta – Poulies – Vakiotes. Administratively it used to be a part of the community of Skinias, which is the subsequent settlement in the above itinerary.
In Vakiotes considerable effort is made today to preserve traditions and customs of the village, despite of its few residents. Every year on August 6, the feast day of the parish church of the Transfiguration, a feast is organized immediately after the Mass.
