Hani (Inn) Moulefe

At a place called “Moulefe”, at the settlement of Panagia, we can enjoy a unique landscape of natural beauty, where eucalyptus dominates among other trees. It was a passage during the Ottoman period, a fact that probably led to the creation of an inn, the famous inn of Moula Efedi. Accommodation was available here for travelers who had to spend the night on their way from Viannos to the city of Heraklion or vice versa. The absence of wheeled vehicles, beyond the difficulties in covering distances, created needs. The process of dealing with these needs, using means of the past, reveals a tradition of daily life and some forms of economy that could not have survived nowadays.
