The E4 European long distance path
The E4 international path is under the supervision of the European Union Trekking and has been designed and marked by the Greek Federation of Mountaineering – Climbing. The European distance path E4 starts from the Pyrenees Mountains at the in Spain, crosses the Bulgarian – Greek border, Promahonas, through the route Promahonas -Serres to the bridge over the Strimonas River. There it crosses the E6 path and reaches Greece at the outpost of Niki via former Yugoslavia north of Florina.
It continues south across the mountains Vernon, Vermion, Pieria and Olympus, south of the Pindos Mountains, the mountains of central Greece and ends in Delphi. It passes then through the Gulf of Corinth in Gythio, it crosses the island of Crete from the Prefecture of Chania to the Prefecture of Lassithi, continuing to Paphos in Cyprus and finally reaches Larnaca. It thus enables the hikers to experience all the variety of the landscape and the wealth of Greek and Cypriot nature.
The E4 European long distance path crosses Minoa Pediados with 2 tracks, the first starting from the Monastery of Agarathos to Kastelli and the second one from Kastelli to Kastamonitsa. These routes are marked with special signs which identify the E4 path.
