The small settlement of Liliano is located south of Kastelli, 3.5 km away, near the military airport. An old, three – aisled basilica, dedicated to St. John, exists in the village and for its construction the materials came from older buildings.
The area seems to be continuously inhabited since the Middle Minoan Period, as indicated by archaeological findings, while it is speculated that this is a Sacred Summit at the archaeological site, on top of Kefala Hill in Liliano, from where one can have a clear view of the whole plain.
The small village of Liliano retains little of its traditional elements, which you can still find by strolling around in the village. We also propose to go a little bit further from the settlement and explore the nearby area, where you can see windmills of the 20th century.
