Mousouta
36 km from Heraklion and only 3 km south of Arkalochori, lies the settlement of Mousouta. Its inhabitants, who were 90 in 2011, are mainly engaged in the production of olive oil and wine products. They have recently been engaged in livestock farming too.
Today in the small village of Mousouta you will visit the beautiful square in a central location. You will see here the famous Venetian fountain, constructed in the 14th century. The water runs from the open mouth of an embossed lion’s head.
In the settlement there is also a temple of the Holy Spirit, while the office of the Cultural Association is at the square of the village.
