Hantrou
Hantrou lies in a landscape of special natural beauty, almost 5 km. southwest of Arkalochori, at an altitude of 380 meters. The almost deserted village numbered only six inhabitants in 2011. Hantrou is built by a creek with plenty of water and it is surrounded by wild flora.
The deserted Hantrou looks like a ghost village nowadays. Walking along the grassy alleys, you will see old houses, having the traditional Cretan architecture, almost ruined. In the lower part of the village you will meet a two-aisled stone church dedicated to the Holy Apostles and Saint John the Theologian, and a few meters further north you will find the old fountain of the village.
