Kato Poulia
Kato Poulia is near Lefkochori (Voutoufou) and just 41 kilometers from Heraklion. Its Muslim residents were made to evacuate the settlement around 1900. Later on refugees were settled there. Kato Poulia is reported to be a posterior settlement than Ano Poulia.
When you visit the village today, it is worth taking a walk to the small hill Tepes, southwest of the village, where a small pine forest grows. You can enjoy the beautiful view of the surroundings. It is said that the Venetian nobleman Gabriel Venieris lived there and according to some reports he owned part of the land around the village.
