Roussohoria
Rousohoria is located 37 km from Heraklion, at an altitude of 340 meters. The inhabitants of the villagewere 242 in 2011.They are currently engaged mainly inthe production of olive oil, wine and vegetable products.
Following the uphill road leading to the village we reach the church of Agia Fotini (Saint Fotini). We also see in the area the Byzantine churches of Agia Paraskevi, of the Holy Cross and of the Lord Christ, which are associated with the long tradition of the region and the settlement itself.
In the center of the modern settlement Rousohoria you will encounter today the patron church of the Virgin Mary. A feast is held here every year on August 14, on the eve, with traditional music, dance,food and plenty of wine. Outside of the church, every year on February 26, on the day of the celebration, a small trade fair is also held.
